A Gorgeous Weekend

After battling a few weeks of the merry-go-round of depression, my sweet hubby surprised me with a day trip to Palm Springs.  Neither of us had been there, and we both needed a dose of sun and warmth.

Downtown Palm Springs is such a cute, quaint little place.  We ate at a Pub (the name of which I can't call to mind) and tried a Turkey Cranberry wrap.  It was delicious!  I snapped a few photos of whimiscal art that made me laugh.  It was just one of those perfect days.  So if you wanna get away, Palm Springs is a good place to think about. Aren't these cute and cheerful?

I've been working hard on my Aussie friend's wedding flowers.  I want them to be perfect!  I showed her these two pics just to give her an idea of what they're looking like (she's let me run amuck with my creativity) and she loved them! ( even though their not completed)  Phew.   Things like that are what makes it all worthwhile.
While I'm working on her stuff, check out what she's working on.

Celebrating a New Way to Shop!

I've been somewhat of an addict to Facebook for awhile now and love connecting with people I went to school with and pathetically communicate with people who only live a short distance from me (including my husband who's often in the same room at the time).

I keep two pages; a personal page and one for my business.  Recently Facebook launched their own version of Ebay called Grapeworm but hardly anyone knows about it.  Over the last couple of days Facebook outdid themselves and now allows for a free storefront using PayPal!  I'm in love with it.  And because they aren't charging for it, I'm passing the savings on by offering free shipping and sale prices on my Facebook shop.  Just go to Designs of Destiny on Facebook and click the Shop Now tab.  You can uses the drop-down menu to choose different categories. So drop by!

Now that I'm done with my shameless plug...we discovered a new place to have breakfast.  Ruby's Diner.  I didn't even know they served breakfast but boy was I pleasantly surprised.  They're prices are reasonable and their food is GOOD!  I had the cinnamon french toast which had the flavor of Cinnabon.  The eggs were fluffy and the bacon was thick and delicious.  I'm definitely sold, on their breakfasts at least.

It's Hard to Say Goodbye...

Today our thoughts are with the family of a friend who lost his battle with a brain tumor yesterday.  Scott was a lively, outgoing, funny person who always had a smile on his face.  No matter how he felt when he asked how you were, it was a genuine question.  He will be missed by so many people but his friends and family have unwavering faith in the scriptures, particularly in John 5:29,29 ( "all those in their memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out", Psalms 37:29 ("The righteous themselves will possess the earth, and they will reside forever upon it").   We all look forward to seeing Scott again in the condition described in  Rev 21:34 (And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”)  Meanwhile, he will be missed.

Visions of Purple

Today we went to Disney's California Adventure in Anaheim.  There's been a few additions since the last trip there.  One of my favorites was the new (at least to me) Toy Story Mania 3-D carnival ride.  It was awesome!  A car takes you from game to game where you use a control device to play games such as ring toss, shooting plates, darts and the like.  I really enjoyed that, but as in any game my husband kicked my butt by scoring more points.  No matter, the experience was worth it.
My other favorite ride is of course the rollercoastser, California Screamin'.  The weather was so nice, a great day to be outside.

Got a special order for another keepsake box, this time the request was purple.  I painted it in a sort of mixture of dark purple with lighter streaks in it but it just seemed to be missing something.  I had seen a box painted with tons of  dots online and the thought occured to me to use dots in painting a resemblance to lace.  It's funny, when I sit down to create something I have an idea of what I want to do but never really know what direction it will take or what the final outcome will be.  Once I get going, it just sort of creates itself.  Know what I mean?

Crafting has always been a passion for me. I have yet to stick with any particular medium, as I love to switch it out and try new things. This blog is sort of a testament to that fact. Hope you enjoy...
